Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair
Remove the Outer Shell
Begin by removing the outer casing of the Xbox 360 E. Use the plastic opening tools to gently pry the faceplate off. Next, remove the screws from the bottom and back of the console using a Phillips screwdriver. Carefully lift and set aside the top shell.
Access the Disc Drive
With the outer shell removed, locate the metal casing that houses the disc drive. Unscrew the metal casing and carefully lift it to expose the drive. Ensure you keep track of all screws for reassembly.
Inspect and Clean the Disc Drive
Carefully detach the disc drive from its connectors. Use a compressed air canister to remove dust and debris from the drive. Clean the laser lens gently with a microfiber cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Allow the lens to dry completely.
Check for Mechanical Obstructions
Inspect the internal mechanisms for any obstructions or misaligned components. Use tweezers to adjust any parts that appear out of place. Ensure that the drive's eject mechanism operates smoothly.
Reassemble the Disc Drive
Once cleaned and inspected, reconnect the disc drive to its connectors and place it back in its original position. Reattach the metal casing and secure it with screws.
Test the Disc Drive
Before reassembling the outer shell, plug in the console and test the disc drive. Insert a disc to check if it reads and ejects correctly. If issues persist, you may need to replace the entire disc drive.
Reassemble the Console
Once confirmed that the drive is functioning, unplug the console and reattach the outer shell. Secure all screws and snap the faceplate back into place. Ensure everything is firmly reassembled.
