Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare the Console
Unplug the Xbox One S from all cables and remove any discs from the drive. Place the console on a clean, flat surface to work on. Ensure you have all necessary tools and materials ready before proceeding.
Remove the Outer Shell
Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry apart the outer shell of the Xbox One S. Start at the back corner of the console and work your way around the edges until the shell detaches. Be careful not to crack the plastic.
Access the Disc Drive
Once the shell is removed, locate the disc drive within the console. Use the T8 and T10 Torx screwdrivers to remove the screws securing the metal casing covering the drive. Carefully lift the casing to expose the disc drive.
Clean the Disc Drive
Use a can of compressed air to blow any dust or debris from the disc drive and its components. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage. Clean the laser lens gently with a soft cloth if necessary.
Troubleshoot the Eject Mechanism
Inspect the eject mechanism for any obstructions or damage. Use tweezers to remove any debris if necessary. Check that the gears and belts are intact and properly aligned.
Replace the Disc Drive (if necessary)
If the disc drive is still malfunctioning, consider replacing it. Disconnect the cables attached to the drive and remove it from the console. Install the new drive by connecting the cables and securing it with screws.
Reassemble the Console
Carefully place the metal casing back over the disc drive and secure it with screws. Reattach the outer shell by aligning it with the console and snapping it into place. Ensure all parts are securely fitted.
Test the Console
Reconnect all cables to the Xbox One S and power it on. Insert a disc to test if the drive reads and ejects correctly. If the issue persists, consider consulting a professional repair service.
