Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare the Workspace
Ensure your workspace is clean and has ample lighting. Gather all required tools and materials before starting. Connect your anti-static wrist strap to a grounded object to prevent ESD damage.
Remove the Outer Shell
Using the T8 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws securing the outer shell of the Xbox Series X. Carefully lift and remove the shell, setting it aside in a safe place.
Access the Disc Drive
Locate the disc drive within the console. It is typically secured with additional screws and connected via a ribbon cable. Use the T8 screwdriver to remove these screws and carefully disconnect the ribbon cable using the plastic opening tool.
Inspect the Disc Drive
Examine the disc drive for any visible damage or obstructions. Use a microfiber cloth to gently clean the disc tray and optical lens area. Avoid touching the lens directly with your fingers.
Test the Drive Mechanism
Manually operate the disc tray to check for any mechanical issues. Use tweezers to remove any visible obstructions. If the drive mechanism appears faulty, consider replacing the disc drive with a new unit.
Replace the Disc Drive
If necessary, install the new disc drive by connecting the ribbon cable and securing it with screws. Ensure all connections are firm and components are aligned correctly.
Reassemble the Console
Reattach the outer shell by securing it with the original screws. Ensure the shell is properly aligned before tightening the screws.
Test the Repair
Plug the console back into the power source and test the disc drive by inserting and ejecting a disc. Verify that the console reads the disc correctly without issues.
