Follow these 6 steps to complete your repair
Remove the Battery
Ensure the DS Lite is powered off. Flip the device over and locate the battery cover. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screw securing the battery cover. Carefully lift the cover and remove the battery.
Disassemble the Back Cover
With the battery removed, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unscrew the seven screws securing the back cover of the DS Lite. Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry open the back cover, starting from the edges. Be cautious of the ribbon cables that connect the two halves.
Locate and Remove the Disc Drive
Once the back cover is removed, locate the disc drive. It is typically situated near the bottom of the device. Use a spudger to disconnect the ribbon cable attached to the disc drive. Carefully unscrew any screws securing the drive and lift it out using tweezers.
Install the Replacement Disc Drive
Take the new disc drive and align it in the same orientation as the old one. Secure it in place using the screws you previously removed. Reattach the ribbon cable carefully to ensure a secure connection.
Reassemble the DS Lite
Carefully place the back cover of the DS Lite back onto the device. Secure it with the seven screws. Ensure that all ribbon cables are properly connected and that no components are loose.
Replace the Battery and Test
Reinsert the battery into its compartment and secure the battery cover with its screw. Power on the DS Lite and test the disc drive to ensure it reads and ejects discs correctly.
