Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare Your Workspace
Clear a well-lit workspace and gather all tools and materials. Lay the magnetic mat out to organize screws. Ensure your anti-static wrist strap is secured to prevent ESD.
Remove the Back Cover
Using the Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the back cover of the Nintendo Switch 2. There are typically eight screws. Store them on the magnetic mat. Gently use the plastic opening tools to pry the back cover off, starting from the corners.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use the spudger to gently disconnect the battery to prevent any power running through the device during the repair.
Access the Disc Drive
Carefully remove any screws or clips securing the disc drive. You may need to use tweezers for smaller screws. Make sure to note the placement of any brackets or cables.
Remove the Faulty Disc Drive
Once the disc drive is accessible, carefully unplug any ribbon cables or connectors using the tweezers. Lift the disc drive out of the console gently to avoid damaging surrounding components.
Install the Replacement Disc Drive
Position the new disc drive into the slot. Reconnect any ribbon cables or connectors securely. Ensure all connections are tight and the drive is seated properly.
Reassemble the Console
Reattach any brackets or clips and secure the disc drive with screws. Reconnect the battery. Carefully place the back cover on, ensuring it snaps into place, and secure it with screws.
Test the Repair
Power on the Nintendo Switch 2 and insert a disc to ensure the drive reads and ejects properly. Verify all functions before completing the repair.
