Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair

1

Prepare Your Workspace

10 min

Set up a clean, static-free work environment. Organize your tools and materials for easy access. Attach your anti-static wrist strap to ensure you are grounded and safe from static discharge.

2

Remove the Back Panel

15 min

Using the tri-wing screwdriver, carefully remove the screws securing the back panel of the Nintendo Switch OLED. Gently lift the panel away from the device, taking care not to damage any internal components.

3

Disconnect the Battery

5 min

Locate the battery connector and use a plastic spudger to disconnect it safely. This step is crucial to prevent electrical shock or damage during the repair process.

4

Access the Disc Drive

15 min

With a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the metal shield that covers the disc drive. Carefully lift the shield and set it aside. Take note of how components are arranged for reassembly.

5

Inspect the Disc Drive

20 min

Visually inspect the disc drive for any obvious signs of damage or obstruction. Use tweezers to gently remove any debris or foreign objects. Clean the drive lens with a microfiber cloth lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

6

Replace the Disc Drive (if necessary)

15 min

If the drive is damaged beyond cleaning or has a mechanical fault, replace it with a new unit. Disconnect the cables and screws holding the drive in place, and carefully install the replacement drive, reconnecting all cables securely.

7

Reassemble the Console

10 min

Reattach the metal shield and secure it with screws. Reconnect the battery, ensuring the connector is firmly in place. Reinstall the back panel and fasten all screws securely with the tri-wing screwdriver.
