Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Unplug the Console
Before beginning any repair, make sure the PlayStation 4 Slim is completely powered off. Unplug all cables from the console, including the power cord and HDMI cable, to prevent any electrical hazards.
Remove the Console's Top Cover
Place the console upside down on a flat surface. Use the plastic opening tool to carefully pry off the top cover, starting from the back corners and working your way around. This will expose the internal components.
Detach the Power Supply
Using the T9 Torx screwdriver, unscrew the screws securing the power supply unit. Carefully disconnect the power supply connectors using tweezers. Lift the power supply out of the console.
Access the Disc Drive
Locate the disc drive, which is now visible. Use the Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the disc drive in place. Carefully disconnect the ribbon cables attached to the drive using tweezers.
Clean the Disc Drive
Use a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the disc drive lens and components. This can resolve issues caused by dust or dirt buildup. Allow the alcohol to dry completely before proceeding.
Replace the Disc Drive (if necessary)
If cleaning does not resolve the issue, consider replacing the disc drive. Install the new drive by connecting the ribbon cables and securing it with screws. Ensure all connections are tight.
Reassemble the Console
Reattach the power supply by reconnecting the connectors and securing it with screws. Align the top cover and snap it back into place. Ensure there are no gaps between the cover and the body.
Test the Repair
Reconnect all cables to the console and power it on. Insert a disc to test the reading and ejection functions. If the issue persists, further professional diagnosis may be required.
