Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare the Workspace
Begin by setting up a clean, static-free workspace. Gather all required tools and materials. Make sure the PS4 is powered off and disconnected from all cables.
Remove the PS4 Top Cover
Using the plastic spudger, gently lift the glossy top cover of the PS4. Slide it towards the back to remove it completely. Set it aside carefully.
Access the Disc Drive
Locate the disc drive. Use the T9 Torx security screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal casing over the drive. Carefully lift and set aside the casing.
Clean the Disc Drive
Use the compressed air can to blow out any dust inside the disc drive. Dampen a microfiber cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and gently clean the drive's lens. Allow it to dry completely.
Test the Disc Drive Mechanism
Manually insert a disc into the drive and observe the loading mechanism. Check for any obstructions or irregular movements. If necessary, gently realign any misaligned parts using the spudger.
Replace the Disc Drive (if necessary)
If the disc drive is still malfunctioning, consider replacing it. Disconnect the drive's ribbon cables and remove it from the console. Install the replacement drive, reconnect cables, and secure it with screws.
Reassemble the PS4
Reattach the metal casing over the disc drive and secure it with screws. Slide the top cover back into place and ensure it clicks securely.
Test the Console
Reconnect all cables and power on the PS4. Insert a disc to test if the reading and ejection issues are resolved. Ensure everything functions correctly before closing the repair session.
