Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare the Work Area
Clear a flat, well-lit workspace to ensure you have ample room to work on the console. Gather all required tools and materials before beginning the repair.
Remove the Outer Panels
Place the console on its side. Carefully slide off the top panel by pulling up gently on the edge until it releases. Repeat for the bottom panel. Be cautious not to use excessive force to avoid damaging the panels.
Disconnect the Disc Drive
Locate the disc drive inside the console. Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the drive. Carefully disconnect any ribbon cables or connectors attached to the drive using tweezers for precision.
Clean the Disc Drive
Use a microfiber cloth and a can of compressed air to gently clean the disc drive, focusing on the lens and moving parts. Ensure no dust or debris remains that might obstruct operation.
Inspect and Replace (if Necessary)
Inspect the disc drive for visible damage. If the drive is damaged, replace it with a new one. Ensure the replacement drive is compatible with the PlayStation 5 Slim.
Reconnect and Secure the Disc Drive
Reconnect the ribbon cables and connectors to the disc drive. Secure the drive in place with the screws previously removed. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
Reattach the Outer Panels
Carefully slide the top and bottom panels back into place. Press down gently until they click securely. Ensure there are no gaps and the panels sit flush.
Test the Console
Reconnect the console to the power source and turn it on. Insert a disc to ensure it reads and ejects correctly. If the issue persists, further inspection or professional repair may be necessary.
