Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare Your Workspace
Before starting, ensure your workspace is clean and well-lit. Gather all necessary tools and materials. Wear an anti-static wrist strap to protect the console's sensitive components from electrostatic discharge.
Remove the Console Covers
Lay the console on a flat surface. Carefully remove the top and bottom covers of the PS5 Slim by gently sliding them off. Use a plastic opening tool if necessary to avoid damaging the casing.
Unscrew and Remove the Internal Frame
Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the internal frame. Carefully lift the frame to access the internal components. Set aside the screws in a safe place.
Disconnect and Remove the Power Supply
Locate the power supply unit within the console. Use a Torx T8 screwdriver to remove any screws securing it. Carefully disconnect any cables attached to the power supply before removing it from the console.
Test the Power Supply
Using a multimeter, test the old power supply to confirm it is faulty. If it fails the test, proceed with replacing it. If not, the issue may lie elsewhere, and further diagnosis will be needed.
Install the New Power Supply
Place the new power supply unit into the console. Reconnect any cables and secure it with the Torx screws. Ensure all connections are firm and secure.
Reassemble the Console
Reattach the internal frame and replace all screws using the Phillips screwdriver. Carefully slide the top and bottom covers back onto the console until they click into place.
Test the Console
Plug the console back into a power source and turn it on to ensure the new power supply is functioning correctly. Monitor for any unusual noises or behaviors.
