Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Down and Disconnect
Turn off your PlayStation 5 completely and unplug it from the power outlet. Remove any connected cables or accessories, and place the console on a flat, stable surface.
Remove the Outer Panels
Use your hands to gently slide and lift the top white panel to remove it. Repeat this process for the bottom panel. Be careful not to apply excessive force to avoid breaking the clips.
Access the Disc Drive
With the panels removed, locate the metal shield covering the disc drive. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the shield. Place the screws in a magnetic project mat or container for safekeeping.
Inspect and Clean the Disc Drive
Carefully inspect the disc drive for any visible obstructions or debris. Use a compressed air canister to blow out any dust. Wipe the exterior of the drive gently with a microfiber cloth.
Check the Disc Drive Connections
Use tweezers to ensure all cable connections to the disc drive are secure. If any cables are loose or disconnected, reseat them firmly.
Replace the Disc Drive (if necessary)
If the issue persists and you suspect a faulty drive, carefully disconnect the cables from the old drive. Remove it and replace it with a new, compatible disc drive. Reconnect all cables securely.
Reattach the Metal Shield and Panels
Reinstall the metal shield by securing it with the screws you removed earlier. Then, reattach the top and bottom panels by aligning them and sliding them into place until they click.
Test the Repair
Reconnect all cables to the PlayStation 5 and power it on. Insert a disc to test the reading and ejection functions to ensure the repair was successful.
