Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button until the 'slide to power off' option appears. Slide to power off the device completely. This ensures safety during the repair process.
Remove the Pentalobe Screws
Using the Pentalobe screwdriver (P2), remove the two screws located at the bottom edge of the phone, near the charging port. Keep these screws safe for reassembly.
Heat the Edges
Use an iOpener or hairdryer to apply heat evenly around the edges of the screen for about one minute. This softens the adhesive holding the screen in place, making it easier to lift.
Lift the Screen
Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and gently pull up to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work around the edges to release the adhesive. Proceed slowly to avoid damage.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, locate the battery connector cover and remove the screws using the Phillips screwdriver (PH000). Use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector, preventing any power from flowing through the device.
Detach the Screen Cables
Locate the display cable bracket and remove the screws securing it. Using the spudger, carefully disconnect the screen cables from the logic board. Be gentle to avoid tearing the cables.
Remove the Old Screen
With all cables disconnected, carefully lift the screen away from the device. Dispose of the old screen safely, especially if it's cracked.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device and connect the display cables to the logic board. Secure the display cable bracket with screws. Reconnect the battery connector and reattach its cover.
Seal the Device
Apply new adhesive strips or screen adhesive around the edges of the device. Carefully lower the new screen into place, pressing gently to secure it. Reinstall the Pentalobe screws at the bottom.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and test the new screen for functionality, including touch response and display quality. Ensure everything works before concluding the repair.
