Apple iPhone 4 - Battery Replacement
Tools Required
- Pentalobe screwdriver (P2)
- Phillips screwdriver (PH00)
- Plastic opening tool
- Spudger

- If the battery appears swollen, proceed with extra care to avoid puncture.
- Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling any fumes from a damaged battery.
- Avoid using metal tools inside the device to prevent short circuits.
Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the iPhone
Before starting the repair, ensure your iPhone 4 is completely powered off. Hold the power button until the 'slide to power off' prompt appears, then slide it to turn off the device.
Remove the Back Cover Screws
Using a Pentalobe screwdriver (P2), remove the two screws located near the dock connector port at the bottom edge of the phone.
Slide Off the Back Cover
Gently slide the back cover upwards towards the top edge of the phone. Once it has moved slightly, lift it off to remove it completely.
Disconnect the Battery
Using a Phillips screwdriver (PH00), remove the single screw securing the battery connector. Use a plastic opening tool to gently disconnect the battery connector from the logic board.
Remove the Battery
Gently pull the plastic tab attached to the battery to lift and remove the battery from the phone. If necessary, use a spudger to carefully pry the battery loose from the adhesive underneath.
Install the New Battery
Place the new battery into the iPhone 4. Align the connector and carefully reconnect it to the logic board. Ensure it is securely attached.
Secure the Battery Connector
Reinstall the screw that secures the battery connector to the logic board using the Phillips screwdriver (PH00).
Reattach the Back Cover
Position the back cover over the iPhone and slide it downwards until it clicks into place. Ensure it is aligned properly.
Reinsert the Back Cover Screws
Using the Pentalobe screwdriver (P2), reinsert and tighten the two screws near the dock connector port at the bottom edge of the phone.
Power On the iPhone
Press and hold the power button to turn on the iPhone 4. Verify that the device powers on and functions correctly with the new battery installed.
