Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before beginning any repair, it is crucial to power off your iPhone 5c to prevent any potential damage or injury. Hold down the power button until the 'slide to power off' option appears, then slide to turn off the device.
Remove the Pentalobe Screws
Using a Pentalobe screwdriver (P2), remove the two screws located on either side of the lightning connector at the bottom of the phone. Keep these screws in a safe place as you will need them during reassembly.
Open the Display Assembly
Place a suction cup just above the home button on the screen. Carefully pull the suction cup to create a small gap between the front panel and the rear case. Insert a plastic opening tool into this gap and gently pry around the edges to release the clips securing the display assembly. Lift the display slightly, but do not completely detach it yet.
Disconnect the Battery
Using a Phillips screwdriver (PH00), remove the screws securing the battery connector bracket, then lift the bracket with tweezers. Use a spudger to gently pry up the battery connector from its socket on the logic board. This disconnects the battery, eliminating any chance of electrical shorts.
Remove the Old Battery
Carefully peel back the adhesive strips securing the battery. If the adhesive is stubborn, use a hair dryer or iOpener to warm the back of the phone, loosening the adhesive. Use the spudger to gently pry the battery out of its compartment. Be cautious not to puncture the battery.
Install the New Battery
Position the new battery in the compartment. Ensure it is aligned correctly, then secure it with new adhesive strips. Press the battery down firmly to ensure it is seated properly.
Reconnect the Battery and Close the Display
Reattach the battery connector to the logic board by pressing it into place. Replace the battery connector bracket and secure it with screws. Align the display assembly with the top of the phone and carefully press it back into the rear case, ensuring all clips are engaged.
Secure the Display and Test the Device
Replace the two Pentalobe screws at the bottom of the phone. Power on your iPhone 5c to ensure the new battery is functioning correctly. If the device powers on and functions as expected, you have successfully replaced the battery.
