Apple iPhone XR - Screen Replacement
Tools Required
- Pentalobe screwdriver (P2)
- Phillips screwdriver (PH00)
- Tri-point Y000 screwdriver
- Plastic opening tool
- Suction cup
- iOpener or heat gun
- Tweezers
- Plastic spudger
Materials Required
- Replacement iPhone XR screen
- Adhesive strips or double-sided tape

- Ensure the device is powered off before beginning any repair.
- Handle all internal components with care to avoid damage.
- Wear anti-static wristbands to prevent ESD (Electrostatic Discharge).
- Use tools as intended to avoid injury.
- Be cautious of sharp glass shards from the broken screen.
Follow these 11 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the side button and either volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone XR completely.
Remove Pentalobe Screws
Use the Pentalobe screwdriver (P2) to remove the two screws located at the bottom edge of the iPhone XR, near the charging port.
Apply Heat to Loosen Adhesive
Place an iOpener or gently use a heat gun on the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Be careful not to overheat the device.
Open the iPhone
Use a suction cup on the lower half of the screen and gently pull up to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges to release the adhesive. Lift the screen slightly and carefully open the device like a book.
Disconnect the Battery
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the battery connector cover. Carefully remove the cover and use a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery connector.
Disconnect Display Cables
Use the Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the logic board cover. Remove the cover and use a spudger to disconnect the display cables.
Remove the Broken Screen
Carefully lift and remove the broken screen from the device, ensuring all cables are fully detached.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device. Connect the display cables to the logic board and secure them with the cover using the Tri-point Y000 screwdriver.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector and secure it with the cover using the Phillips screwdriver.
Seal the Device
Carefully close the device and press the edges to secure the adhesive. Replace the two Pentalobe screws at the bottom of the device.
Power On and Test
Press the side button to power on your iPhone XR. Test the new screen for functionality, ensuring the touch, display, and sensors work correctly.
