Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before starting the repair, ensure your iPhone XS is completely powered off. Hold the Side button and either volume button until the 'slide to power off' slider appears, then swipe to turn off the device.
Remove the Pentalobe Screws
Using a Pentalobe (P2) screwdriver, remove the two screws located on either side of the Lightning port on the bottom edge of the iPhone XS.
Heat and Separate the Display Assembly
Use an iOpener or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the display to soften the adhesive. Once heated, apply a suction handle near the bottom edge of the screen and carefully lift to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges to release the adhesive.
Open the iPhone
Gently swing the display assembly open from the left side, similar to opening a book. Be cautious not to pull it too far as it’s still connected by cables.
Disconnect the Battery
Remove the screws securing the logic board connector bracket with a Phillips #000 screwdriver. Use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector by gently prying it up from the logic board.
Disconnect the Display Cables
Remove additional screws securing the display cable bracket. Use a spudger to disconnect the three display cables: the digitizer cable, the display cable, and the front sensor cable.
Remove the Old Screen
Carefully detach the old screen from the device. Handle any broken glass with care to avoid injury. Dispose of the old screen properly.
Install the New Screen
Align the new replacement screen with the device. Connect the display cables back to the logic board in reverse order of disassembly. Secure the cable bracket with screws.
Reconnect the Battery and Close the Device
Reconnect the battery connector to the logic board. Carefully align and close the display assembly, ensuring a snug fit. Secure the display with the adhesive strips.
Secure the Display and Test
Replace the two Pentalobe screws near the Lightning port. Power on the iPhone XS and test the new screen for functionality, ensuring touch and display are working correctly.
