Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair
Power Down and Prepare Your Workspace
Ensure your Google Pixel 1 XL is completely powered off. Lay out your tools and materials on a clean, flat surface with adequate lighting. This will help you avoid losing small screws and components.
Heat the Adhesive
Use an iOpener or a hairdryer to heat the edges of the screen. Move the heat source evenly around the perimeter for about 1-2 minutes to soften the adhesive securing the screen.
Lift the Screen
Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame. Carefully work your way around the edges to separate the adhesive. Take care not to insert the tool too deeply to avoid damaging internal components.
Disconnect the Display Cables
Once the screen is loosened, gently lift it to access the display cables. Use a spudger to release the connectors securing the display to the motherboard. Set the old screen aside.
Install the New Screen
Position the new screen near the device and connect the display cables to the motherboard. Ensure the connectors are securely attached by pressing them down gently with a spudger.
Secure the New Screen
Remove any protective film from the new screen. Align the screen with the frame and press it into place. Use new adhesive strips around the edges if necessary to ensure a secure fit. Press down firmly to ensure the screen adheres properly.
Test the Repair
Power on your Google Pixel 1 XL to test the new screen. Check for touch responsiveness and display quality. If everything is functioning correctly, your repair is complete.
