Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Ensure your Pixel 1 is completely powered off by holding the power button and selecting 'Power Off'. Remove the SIM card tray using a SIM ejection tool or paperclip.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive securing the screen. Move the heat source evenly around the edges for about 1-2 minutes.
Lift the Screen
Apply a suction cup near the top of the screen to lift it slightly. Once there's a gap, insert a plastic opening tool to gently pry the screen away from the frame. Work your way around the edges until the screen is loose.
Disconnect the Display Cable
Carefully lift the screen from the device, but do not fully remove it yet. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal bracket over the display cable connector. Remove the bracket and disconnect the display cable using a spudger.
Remove the Old Screen
Once the display cable is disconnected, remove the old screen completely from the device. Clean any remaining adhesive from the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device and connect the display cable. Secure the cable with the metal bracket and screws. Ensure the cable is seated properly to avoid any display issues.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the frame where the screen will sit. Carefully place the new screen onto the frame and press down evenly to ensure a good seal.
Reinsert SIM Card and Power On
Reinsert the SIM card tray into the device. Power on the Pixel 1 to ensure the new screen is functioning correctly. Test for responsiveness and display quality.
