Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on your Google Pixel 2 XL until the power menu appears. Select 'Power Off' to shut down the device completely.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. Move the heat source around the perimeter to soften the adhesive beneath. Be careful not to overheat to avoid damage.
Lift the Screen
Place a suction cup near the top edge of the screen. Gently pull up with the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Work your way around the edges until the screen is free. Take your time to avoid cracking the glass further.
Disconnect the Screen Connectors
Carefully lift the screen slightly to reveal the connectors underneath. Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the connector bracket. Use tweezers to disconnect the display and digitizer cables.
Remove Old Adhesive
Clean the frame of the device using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any residual adhesive. This will ensure proper adhesion of the new screen.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the connectors on the device. Reconnect the display and digitizer cables, then secure the connector bracket with screws. Ensure all connections are firm.
Secure the New Screen
Apply adhesive strips or double-sided adhesive tape around the edges of the frame. Carefully align and press the new screen into place, ensuring it sits flush with the frame.
Power On and Test
Once the screen is installed, power on your Google Pixel 2 XL to test the new screen. Ensure touch functionality and display clarity are as expected.
