Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Hold down the power button and select 'Power off' to turn off your Google Pixel 2. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.
Heat the Edges
Using a heat gun or hairdryer, gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Move the heat source in a circular motion around the device for about 1-2 minutes. Avoid lingering in one spot to prevent overheating.
Lift the Screen
Place a suction cup near the top edge of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the screen and the frame. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work your way around the perimeter to release the adhesive.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is partially lifted, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield over the battery connector. Remove the shield, then use a spudger to disconnect the battery from the motherboard.
Remove the Screen
Carefully lift the screen away from the device, taking care not to damage the flex cables. If necessary, use tweezers to gently disconnect the flex cables from the motherboard.
Install New Screen
Align the replacement screen with the device. Reconnect the flex cables to the motherboard. Ensure the connections are secure before proceeding.
Reconnect the Battery
Position the battery connector and press it into place on the motherboard. Reattach the metal shield over the connector and secure it with the screws removed earlier.
Secure the Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the device frame. Carefully press the screen into place, ensuring it aligns with the frame. Apply gentle pressure around the edges to secure the adhesive.
Test the Device
Power on the Google Pixel 2 and test the new screen to ensure it is functioning correctly. Check for display clarity and touch responsiveness.
