Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Begin by powering off your Google Pixel 3a XL completely. Once the phone is off, use a SIM eject tool to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This prevents damage to the SIM card and tray during the repair.
Heat and Loosen Adhesive
Use an iOpener or hairdryer to apply heat to the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive securing the screen to the phone's frame. Apply the heat evenly for about 2-3 minutes.
Lift the Screen
Once the adhesive is softened, use a suction cup to gently lift one edge of the screen. Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame to begin separating the adhesive. Carefully slide the tool along the edges to release the rest of the screen.
Disconnect the Screen
With the screen partially lifted, identify the display connector. Use a spudger to gently disconnect the cable from the motherboard. Ensure you do not pull or damage the cable during this process.
Remove the Old Screen
Once the cable is disconnected, fully remove the old screen from the device. Ensure all adhesive residue is cleaned from the frame to prepare for the new screen.
Install New Screen
Align the new screen with the device. Reconnect the display cable to the motherboard. Ensure the connection is secure and properly seated.
Secure Screen with Adhesive
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the frame. Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it is aligned correctly. Apply gentle pressure to secure the screen to the adhesive.
Reinsert SIM Card and Test
Reinsert the SIM card tray into the device. Power on the phone and test the new screen for functionality. Ensure touch responsiveness and display are working correctly.
