Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on your Google Pixel 4 XL until the power menu appears. Tap 'Power off' to completely shut down the device before proceeding.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Attach the suction cup near the edge and gently lift while using a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the back cover from the frame. Work your way around the edges until the cover is detached.
Disconnect the Battery
Using the Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the metal plate over the battery connector. Carefully lift the metal plate with the spudger and disconnect the battery connector to ensure no power is flowing through the device.
Remove the Display Assembly
Heat the edges of the screen using a heat gun or iOpener to soften the adhesive. Place the suction cup on the screen and gently lift to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work around the edges to release the screen from the frame. Be mindful of the flex cables connected to the screen.
Disconnect and Remove the Old Screen
Locate the display connectors and use the spudger to gently disconnect them from the motherboard. Once disconnected, remove the old screen entirely from the device.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the device frame and reconnect the display connectors to the motherboard. Press down gently to ensure a secure connection.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape to the edges of the new screen. Gently press the screen into place, ensuring it is fully adhered to the frame.
Reconnect the Battery and Reassemble
Reconnect the battery connector and replace the metal plate. Secure it with the screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Reattach the back cover by pressing it firmly onto the frame. Use the heat gun to reseal the adhesive if necessary.
Power On and Test
Power on the device by pressing the power button. Test the new screen to ensure it is functioning correctly. Check for responsiveness and any display issues.
