Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Ensure your Google Pixel 4 is completely powered off. To do this, press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then select 'Power off.' Once the device is off, wait a few seconds to ensure it has fully powered down.
Heat the Screen Edges
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the Pixel 4 screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Move the heat source in a circular motion around the edges for about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to overheat any area.
Remove the Screen
Place a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and gently pull to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully slide it around the edges to separate the screen from the frame. Take your time and be gentle to avoid cracking the screen further or damaging internal components.
Disconnect the Battery
Use a Pentalobe screwdriver (P2) to remove the screws securing the metal shield covering the battery connector. Once removed, use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard to ensure no power is flowing through the device.
Disconnect the Display Cable
Using a Phillips screwdriver (PH00), remove the screws securing the display cable connector shield. Lift the shield off, then use a spudger to carefully disconnect the display cable from the motherboard.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align and connect the new screen's display cable to the motherboard. Reattach the connector shield with the screws you removed earlier. Ensure the connection is secure before proceeding.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard, ensuring it is properly seated. Reattach the metal shield over the connector using the Pentalobe screws.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips around the edges of the frame. Carefully align the new screen with the frame and press down firmly to secure. Ensure the adhesive is evenly distributed and the screen is flush with the frame.
Test the New Screen
Power on your Google Pixel 4 and test the new screen's functionality. Check for proper touch response, display quality, and ensure there are no dead spots or discoloration.
