Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Begin by turning off your Google Pixel 4a completely. Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' from the menu. Wait until the device is completely shut down.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Place the iOpener on the back cover for a few minutes. Once heated, use a suction cup to lift the back cover slightly, then insert a plastic opening tool to carefully pry it open. Work slowly around the edges to avoid cracking the cover.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use a spudger or tweezers to gently pry the connector off the board. This step is crucial to prevent any electrical shorts while working on the device.
Remove the Old Screen
Use the heat gun or hairdryer to warm the front screen, focusing on the edges to soften the adhesive. Gently use the suction cup and plastic opening tool to lift the screen from the frame. Be cautious of the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard. Once the screen is lifted, disconnect the cable using tweezers.
Install the Replacement Screen
Align the new screen connector with the motherboard and gently press it into place. Check that it's securely connected. Place the new adhesive strips around the edges of the frame, then carefully align and press the new screen into the frame. Ensure there are no gaps and the screen is flush with the frame.
Reconnect the Battery
Reattach the battery connector to the motherboard by gently pressing it back into place with the spudger. Ensure it is securely connected to restore power to the device.
Reattach the Back Cover
Carefully align the back cover with the device and press it down firmly around the edges to secure it with the adhesive. If needed, reapply heat to ensure a strong seal. Allow the adhesive to set for a few minutes.
Test the Replacement Screen
Power on your Google Pixel 4a and test the new screen. Check for responsiveness, display clarity, and ensure there are no dead spots. Verify that all functions, including touch and display, are working correctly.
