Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Completely power off your Pixel 5A 5G. Using a SIM eject tool, remove the SIM card tray from the device to prevent any accidental damage while working.
Heat and Loosen Adhesive
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Heat for about 2-3 minutes, being careful not to overheat and damage the screen or internal components.
Pry Open the Screen
Attach a suction cup to the lower part of the screen. Gently pull up to create a small gap between the screen and the frame. Insert an opening pick into the gap and slide it around the edges to cut through the adhesive. Use multiple picks to keep the screen separated from the frame as you work your way around.
Disconnect the Battery Connector
Once the screen is lifted, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield covering the battery connector. Carefully lift the shield with tweezers and use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector to ensure no power is running through the device.
Disconnect the Display Connector
Locate the display connector and use the spudger to carefully disconnect it. This will free the old screen from the device.
Remove Old Adhesive and Clean Frame
Use isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to clean the edges of the frame, removing any old adhesive residue. Ensure the surface is clean and ready for the new adhesive strips.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen's display connector with the connector on the motherboard and press down gently to secure it. Ensure the connection is firm and seated correctly.
Reattach Battery Connector and Shield
Reconnect the battery connector using the spudger. Replace the metal shield and secure it with screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Seal the Screen
Apply new adhesive strips along the edges of the frame. Carefully align the new screen and press it down firmly along the edges to ensure it is securely attached.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and check the functionality of the new screen. Ensure the touch response is accurate and the display is clear without any dead pixels.
