Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on your Pixel 8 Pro, then tap on 'Power off' to completely shut down the device. This is critical to ensure your safety and prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or iOpener to gently heat the edges of the screen. This helps soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Apply heat evenly, moving around the edges for about 2-3 minutes. Avoid overheating to prevent damage to the internal components.
Lift the Screen
Attach a suction cup near the top edge of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the screen from the frame. Work your way around the device until the screen is loose. Be cautious not to tear any cables connecting the screen to the motherboard.
Disconnect the Screen
Once the screen is loose, gently lift it to reveal the internal connectors. Use a spudger or a plastic opening tool to disconnect the screen's ribbon cables from the motherboard by carefully flipping up the retaining clips and sliding the cables out.
Remove the Old Adhesive
With the screen removed, use tweezers and isopropyl alcohol with a microfiber cloth to clean any remaining adhesive from the frame. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying new adhesive.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device, and carefully connect the ribbon cables to the motherboard. Secure the cables by closing the retaining clips. Ensure that the cables are properly seated and not pinched.
Apply New Adhesive
Apply the adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the frame. Ensure even coverage to secure the new screen properly. Avoid blocking any sensors or cameras with the adhesive.
Secure the Screen
Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it aligns correctly with the frame. Apply gentle pressure around the edges to secure the adhesive bond. Allow the adhesive to set for a few minutes.
Power On the Device
Once the new screen is secured, power on the device to test the functionality of the screen. Ensure that the touch response, display, and other features work correctly.
