Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Eject SIM Card
Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power Off' to turn off the device. Use a SIM card ejector tool to remove the SIM card tray from the Pixel 8.
Heat the Display Edges
Using a heat gun or iOpener, gently apply heat around the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Be cautious not to overheat the device.
Separate the Display
Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen, and lift gently to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully pry around the edges to loosen the adhesive. Avoid prying near the front-facing camera.
Disconnect the Display Cables
Once the screen is loose, carefully lift it slightly to access the display connectors. Use a spudger to disconnect the display cables, ensuring not to pull or damage the cables.
Remove the Old Display
Fully detach the display from the body of the phone. Place it aside safely, and prepare the new screen for installation.
Install the New Display
Position the new display next to the device and carefully connect the display cables using a spudger. Ensure the connections are secure but avoid applying too much pressure.
Seal the New Display
Apply the adhesive strips around the frame where the new display will sit. Align the display correctly and press it firmly into place. Use gentle pressure to ensure a good bond.
Test the Device
Before fully sealing, power on the device to ensure the new screen is functioning properly. Test touch functionality and display clarity.
Reinsert SIM Card and Finish
Once functionality is confirmed, reinsert the SIM card tray and power on the device again to complete the process.
