Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair

1

Power Off and Prepare

5 min

Turn off your LG G8X ThinQ and remove the SIM card tray. Ensure the device is fully powered down to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.

2

Heat the Back Panel

5 min

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to gently warm the edges of the back panel. This will loosen the adhesive holding the back panel in place, making it easier to remove. Be careful not to overheat the device.

3

Remove the Back Panel

10 min

Use a suction cup to lift the back panel slightly, then insert a plastic opening tool to gently pry it open. Work your way around the edges to release all the adhesive. Set the back panel aside carefully.

4

Disconnect the Battery

5 min

Locate the battery connector and use a spudger to carefully disconnect it from the motherboard. This step ensures you won't accidentally short-circuit the device during the screen replacement.

5

Remove the Old Screen

15 min

Unscrew and remove the screws securing the screen. Use a heat gun to apply heat along the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Carefully use a suction cup and a spudger to separate the screen from the frame. Be gentle to avoid damaging other components.

6

Prepare and Install the New Screen

10 min

Clean the frame with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any adhesive residue. Apply new adhesive strips around the frame. Align the new screen and press it into place firmly but gently.

7

Reconnect and Reassemble

10 min

Reconnect the battery connector and ensure all connections are secure. Reattach the back panel by aligning it and pressing down firmly. Replace all screws and reinsert the SIM card tray.
