Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button until the option to power off appears. Confirm the selection to turn off your device completely. This is crucial to avoid any electrical accidents during the repair.
Remove the SIM Card Tray
Using the SIM eject tool, insert it into the small hole next to the SIM card tray. Gently press until the tray pops out. Remove the tray and set it aside safely.
Heat the Back Cover
Using a heat gun, gently apply heat around the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Move the heat gun constantly and avoid focusing on one spot to prevent damage. This step is crucial for safely removing the back cover without cracking it.
Remove the Back Cover
Once the adhesive is softened, use a suction cup to lift the back cover slightly. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work your way around the edges to separate the cover from the phone. Use a spudger for more stubborn areas. Take your time to avoid cracking the back cover.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use a spudger to carefully pry up the connector, disconnecting the battery from the motherboard. This step is important for safety and to prevent short circuits while working on the device.
Remove the Old Screen
Detach any screws securing the screen using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Carefully use the heat gun to soften the adhesive holding the screen to the frame. Use the suction cup and opening tool to gently pry the screen away from the frame. Be cautious not to damage the internal components.
Install the New Screen
Clean the frame with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any residue. Apply the new adhesive strips to the frame. Align the new screen with the frame and press it firmly into place, ensuring the adhesive bonds well.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard by aligning it properly and pressing it down until it clicks into place. Ensure a secure connection is made.
Reattach the Back Cover
Carefully align the back cover with the phone's frame. Press down firmly around the edges to ensure the adhesive bonds well. If necessary, apply gentle heat to help the adhesive set.
Power On and Test the Device
Reinsert the SIM card tray. Then, power on the device by pressing the power button. Test the new screen for touch responsiveness and display clarity. Ensure all functions are working properly before concluding the repair.
