Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on your Moto Edge 20 Pro until the power menu appears. Select 'Power Off' to completely shut down the device before proceeding with the repair.
Remove SIM Card Tray
Using the SIM eject tool, insert it into the small hole on the SIM card tray, located on the side of the phone. Gently press to release and remove the tray. Set it aside safely.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. Move the heat source evenly around the edges for about 1-2 minutes. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place, making it easier to remove.
Lift the Screen
Place a suction cup near the edge of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the screen from the frame. Work slowly around the perimeter to avoid damaging internal components.
Disconnect the Screen
Once the screen is partially lifted, use a spudger to carefully disconnect the screen’s ribbon cable from the motherboard. This step is crucial for safely removing the screen without damaging internal connections.
Remove the Old Screen
With the cable disconnected, fully remove the old screen. Be cautious of any remaining adhesive or glass fragments. Use tweezers to remove any small pieces, and clean the edges with a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen's ribbon cable with the connector on the motherboard. Press gently to secure the connection. Carefully position the screen onto the phone's frame, ensuring it fits securely.
Secure the Screen with Adhesive
Apply the adhesive strips around the edges of the new screen. Press firmly to ensure a strong bond. Remove any protective films from the screen if applicable.
Reassemble the Device
Reinsert the SIM card tray into its slot. Power on the device to test the new screen. Ensure all touch functions and display features work correctly before completing the repair.
Final Inspection
Carefully inspect the device for any loose parts or misalignments. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and smudges.
