Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on your Moto Edge 50, then tap 'Power off' to ensure the device is completely turned off before you begin the repair.
Heat and Remove the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup to lift the edge, then insert a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the back cover away from the device. Work your way around the perimeter to release the adhesive.
Disconnect the Battery
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the battery connector cover. Use a plastic spudger to gently disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. This step is crucial to prevent any electrical damage during the repair.
Remove the Old Screen
Use the heat gun to apply heat around the edges of the front screen to loosen the adhesive. Carefully insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame. Slowly work your way around the screen to detach it from the adhesive, then lift the screen away from the device.
Install the New Screen
Place adhesive strips or apply screen adhesive around the frame where the new screen will sit. Align the new screen and press it firmly into place to ensure a secure fit. Be cautious to align connectors properly.
Reconnect the Battery
Reattach the battery connector to the motherboard using the spudger, then secure the battery connector cover with screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Reattach the Back Cover
Carefully align the back cover with the device. Press around the edges to engage the adhesive. If necessary, apply slight heat to ensure the adhesive bonds well.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and verify that the new screen is functioning properly. Check for touch responsiveness and ensure there are no display issues.
