Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Turn off your Motorola Moto G 5G completely. Use the SIM eject tool or a paperclip to remove the SIM card tray from the device to prevent any data loss or damage during the repair.
Heat the Display Adhesive
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This helps soften the adhesive securing the screen to the frame. Keep the heat source moving, and do not hold it too close to avoid overheating.
Pry Open the Screen
With the suction cup, gently lift the screen starting from the bottom edge. Insert a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the screen from the frame. Work your way around the edges, gradually loosening the adhesive.
Disconnect the Screen
Once the screen is detached, carefully lift it to access the connectors beneath. Use the spudger to disconnect any ribbon cables securing the screen to the motherboard. Take note of their positions for reassembly.
Remove the Old Screen
After disconnecting the cables, you can remove the old screen completely. Set it aside and ensure the frame is free of old adhesive and debris using a microfiber cloth.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame. Reconnect the ribbon cables to the motherboard, ensuring each is securely fastened. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damaging connectors.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the frame. Press the new screen into place, ensuring it is aligned correctly. Use gentle pressure to secure it without cracking the new screen.
Reassemble and Test
Reinsert the SIM card tray and power on the device. Test the new screen for touch responsiveness and display quality. Ensure all functions are working correctly before completing the repair.
