Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove Back Cover
Turn off your Motorola Moto G Play completely. Use a plastic opening tool or your fingernail to gently pry off the back cover, starting from one corner and working your way around the edges. This will expose the internal components of the device.
Remove Battery and Disconnect Cables
Carefully remove the battery using the plastic opening tool. Next, use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove any screws securing the internal cover. Once removed, disconnect the battery connector and any visible ribbon cables connecting the display to the motherboard.
Heat and Loosen Adhesive
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be patient and avoid overheating any area to prevent damage to the internal components.
Remove the Broken Screen
Place a suction cup on the screen and gently pull to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work around the edges to separate the screen from the chassis. Use a spudger to fully detach the screen, making sure not to damage the ribbon cables.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the device and connect the ribbon cables to the motherboard. Secure the screen in place using adhesive strips or double-sided tape. Ensure the screen is flush with the frame and no cables are pinched.
Reassemble the Device
Reconnect the battery and place it back into its compartment. Reattach any internal covers and secure them with screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Snap the back cover onto the device, ensuring all edges are properly sealed.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and test the new screen for responsiveness and display accuracy. Check for any display issues, such as dead pixels or touch sensitivity problems. Ensure the phone functions as expected.
