Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Tray
Begin by powering off your Moto G20 completely. Use a SIM ejector tool or a paperclip to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This ensures there will be no damage to the SIM card during the repair process.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Keep the heat source moving to avoid overheating any one area. Do this for about 2-3 minutes.
Remove the Screen
Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and gently lift until you can insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame. Carefully work your way around the edges, loosening the adhesive. Take care not to damage the internal components.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is loose, gently lift it from the device. Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove any screws securing the display connectors. Use a spudger to disconnect the screen cables from the motherboard. Set the old screen aside.
Prepare the New Screen
Before installing the new screen, clean any residual adhesive from the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Ensure the new screen is free of dust and fingerprints. Apply the adhesive strips to the frame to secure the new screen.
Connect the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the device and reconnect the screen cables to the motherboard using the spudger. Secure any screws removed previously. Ensure the connections are firm and properly aligned.
Secure and Test the New Screen
Gently press the new screen into place, ensuring it adheres properly to the adhesive strips. Reinsert the SIM card tray. Power on the device to test the new screen for functionality, including touch sensitivity and display clarity.
