Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before beginning any repair, ensure that your Moto G5 Plus is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power Off' from the menu. Wait for the device to fully shut down.
Remove the SIM Card Tray
Use a SIM card ejection tool or a small paperclip to remove the SIM card tray from the top edge of the phone. Set the tray aside in a safe place.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Using a heat gun or hairdryer, gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive holding it in place. Move the heat source evenly in a circular motion, taking care not to overheat any area.
Separate the Screen from the Frame
Place a suction cup near the top of the screen and gently pull up to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges to release the adhesive. Work slowly to avoid cracking the glass further.
Disconnect the Screen Connector
Carefully lift the screen away from the device, but do not fully remove it yet. Locate the screen connector and use a spudger to gently disconnect it from the motherboard.
Remove the Old Screen
Once the connector is detached, carefully remove the old screen from the device. Set it aside, ensuring no glass shards remain on the device.
Install the New Screen
Take your new replacement screen and connect it to the motherboard using the connector. Ensure it is securely attached before proceeding.
Secure the New Screen
Apply adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the frame. Carefully align the new screen and press it into place, ensuring a secure fit.
Reinsert the SIM Card Tray
Once the screen is secured, reinsert the SIM card tray into the top edge of the phone.
Power On and Test the Device
Power on your Moto G5 Plus and check the display for functionality. Ensure the touch responsiveness and visual display are working correctly.
