Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before starting the repair, ensure your Motorola Moto G5S is completely powered off. Hold the power button and select 'Power Off' from the menu. Wait for the device to turn off completely.
Remove the Back Cover
Using your fingers or a plastic opening tool, gently pry open the back cover of the phone starting from the bottom edge. Carefully work your way around the device to release all the clips holding the cover in place. Set the cover aside.
Disconnect the Battery
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the battery connector cover. Carefully lift the cover off and use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard to avoid any electrical short circuit.
Heat and Remove the Display
Gently heat the edges of the display using a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup to lift the display slightly and insert a plastic opening tool between the display and the frame. Carefully slide the tool around the edges to loosen the adhesive and lift the display off the frame.
Disconnect the Display Cable
With the display lifted, locate and carefully disconnect the display cable from the motherboard using a spudger or tweezers. Remove the old display completely from the device.
Prepare the Frame for New Screen
Clean the frame of any remaining adhesive residue using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before proceeding.
Install the New Display
Align the new display with the frame and reconnect the display cable to the motherboard. Ensure a secure connection before positioning the display correctly on the frame.
Secure the New Display
Apply adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the frame. Carefully press the new display into place, ensuring it is securely attached and aligned properly.
Reconnect the Battery and Reassemble
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard and reattach the connector cover with the screws. Place the back cover onto the device and press around the edges to secure it.
Test the New Display
Power on the device and test the new display to ensure it is functioning correctly. Check for touch responsiveness and display clarity to confirm successful installation.
