Follow these 11 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Hold the power button until the power menu appears, then select 'Power Off'. Wait for the device to completely shut down before proceeding.
Remove the Back Cover
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the back cover. Insert a plastic opening tool into the seam between the back cover and the frame, gently prying it open to release the clips. Carefully detach the back cover.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use a spudger to gently pry up and disconnect the battery connector to ensure no power flows through the device during the repair.
Heat the Front Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to apply heat evenly around the edges of the display to soften the adhesive. Heat for approximately 1-2 minutes, ensuring not to overheat any one area.
Remove the Damaged Screen
Place a suction cup near the edge of the screen and gently pull up to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work your way around the edges to separate the screen from the frame. Be cautious of any cables attached to the screen.
Detach Screen Connectors
Use fine-tipped tweezers to gently disconnect any cables or connectors attached to the screen. Take note of their positions for reassembly.
Prepare the New Screen
Clean the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any old adhesive residue. Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the frame edges.
Install the New Screen
Carefully connect any necessary cables to the new screen. Align the screen with the frame and gently press down to secure it in place, ensuring a tight seal.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard using a spudger. Ensure it is securely attached.
Reattach the Back Cover
Align the back cover with the frame and press down to secure the clips. Reinsert and tighten the screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and test the new screen for functionality, including touch response and display clarity.
