Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Power off the Moto G7 Play completely. Once off, use the SIM card eject tool to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This prevents any potential damage to the SIM card during the repair process.
Heat and Loosen Adhesive
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the phone's screen for about 1-2 minutes. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place, making it easier to remove.
Pry Open the Screen
Place a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and gently pull to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges of the screen to break the adhesive seal. Be careful not to insert the tool too deeply to avoid damaging internal components.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield covering the battery connector. Use a spudger to gently disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.
Remove the Old Screen
Carefully lift the screen away from the device, taking care not to tear the display cable. Use tweezers to disconnect the display cable from the motherboard by gently lifting the connector.
Prepare the New Screen
Remove any protective films from the new screen. Apply adhesive strips or double-sided tape along the edges of the frame where the new screen will sit.
Install the New Screen
Carefully connect the display cable of the new screen to the motherboard. Align the screen correctly with the frame and press it gently to secure it in place with the adhesive.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard using a spudger. Replace the metal shield and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.
Power On and Test
Reinsert the SIM card tray and power on the device to test the new screen. Ensure that the touch functionality and display are working correctly before sealing the device.
