Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Ensure your Motorola Moto G8 Play is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' from the menu. Wait for a few seconds until the screen goes dark.
Remove the SIM Card Tray
Insert the SIM card eject tool into the small hole next to the SIM card tray. Apply slight pressure until the tray pops out. Remove the tray and set it aside.
Heat the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently warm the edges of the back cover. This will soften the adhesive holding the cover in place. Heat for about 2-3 minutes, moving the heat source in a circular motion.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a suction cup to lift the back cover slightly, creating a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully slide it around the edges to release the adhesive. Avoid using metal tools as they can damage the plastic.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use a plastic spudger to carefully disconnect the battery. This ensures the device is entirely powered down to prevent short circuits.
Remove the Old Screen
Remove the screws holding the screen in place using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Use a plastic spudger to carefully disconnect the screen connector. Heat the front of the device slightly and use a suction cup and plastic tool to separate the screen from the frame.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame and connect the screen connector to the motherboard. Ensure it is securely attached. Use adhesive strips or double-sided tape along the frame to secure the new screen.
Reassemble the Device
Reattach the battery connector to the motherboard. Carefully place the back cover back onto the phone, pressing firmly around the edges to ensure the adhesive sets. Reinsert the SIM card tray.
Power On and Test
Power on your Motorola Moto G8 Play and test the new screen to ensure it is functioning correctly. Check for responsiveness and display quality.
