Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Prepare the Device
Power off your Motorola Moto G8 Power completely. Remove any SIM cards or memory cards from the device to prevent damage.
Heat the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Maintain a safe distance to avoid overheating. Heat evenly for about 3-5 minutes.
Remove the Back Cover
Place a suction cup near the edge of the heated back cover. Gently lift to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work your way around the edges to release the adhesive. Avoid bending the back cover.
Detach the Fingerprint Sensor
Once the back cover is removed, carefully detach the fingerprint sensor connector using tweezers. Be gentle to avoid damaging the flex cable.
Unscrew the Midframe
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the midframe. Carefully lift the midframe to expose the battery and internal components.
Disconnect the Battery
Use a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. Ensure the connector is lifted straight up to prevent damage to the socket.
Remove the Battery
Gently lift the battery using a plastic spudger. If necessary, apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol around the edges to weaken the adhesive. Be careful not to bend or puncture the battery.
Install the New Battery
Place the new battery into the compartment, ensuring it aligns properly. Connect the battery connector back to the motherboard.
Reassemble the Device
Replace the midframe and secure it with screws. Reattach the fingerprint sensor connector. Align the back cover and press firmly to re-adhere the edges. If necessary, apply new adhesive strips.
Power On and Test
Power on the device to ensure the new battery is functioning correctly. Test all functions, including the fingerprint sensor, to ensure everything is working as expected.
