Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Begin by powering off your Motorola Moto G8 Power completely. Use the SIM eject tool to remove the SIM card tray from the side of the phone.
Heat the Rear Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer set to low heat to warm the edges of the rear cover. This will loosen the adhesive, making it easier to remove. Heat the edges for about 2-3 minutes, moving the heat source around continuously to avoid overheating any area.
Remove the Rear Cover
Use a suction cup to gently lift the rear cover. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap created and carefully work your way around the edges to release the clips. Be patient and avoid using excessive force.
Disconnect the Battery
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the battery connector cover. Remove the cover and use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard to prevent any power from flowing through the device during the repair.
Remove the Display Assembly
Unscrew the screws securing the display connector shield and remove the shield. Disconnect the display cable using tweezers or a spudger. Use a heat gun to gently warm the edges of the front screen and use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry and remove the old display. Be cautious not to damage the underlying components.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the phone body. Connect the display cable to the motherboard. Secure the display connector with the shield and screws. Ensure the screen sits flush and securely on the device frame.
Reconnect the Battery and Test
Reconnect the battery connector and place the battery connector cover back, securing it with screws. Power on the device to test the new screen's functionality before completely sealing the phone.
Reattach the Rear Cover
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the rear cover. Carefully align and press the cover back onto the device, ensuring it clicks into place securely. Reinsert the SIM card tray.
