Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Prepare Workspace
Power off your Motorola Moto G8 and place it on a clean, flat surface. Gather all the necessary tools and materials, and ensure your workspace is well-lit.
Remove the Back Cover
Using a spudger, carefully pry open the back cover, starting from the seam and working your way around. Be gentle to avoid breaking the plastic clips.
Detach the Battery Connector
Locate the battery connector. Use a plastic spudger to gently disconnect it from the motherboard to ensure no power is flowing through the device.
Heat and Remove the Display
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm the edges of the screen. This will loosen the adhesive holding the display. Apply the heat evenly for about 1-2 minutes. Then use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly and insert a plastic opening tool to gently separate the screen from the frame.
Disconnect Display Cables
Once the screen is partially lifted, locate and disconnect the display cable by gently prying it off with a spudger or tweezers. Remove the old screen completely.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame of the phone. Reconnect the display cables securely to the motherboard. Test the screen by briefly reconnecting the battery and powering on the device to ensure functionality before sealing.
Seal the New Display
Once functionality is confirmed, apply the adhesive strips or screen adhesive around the frame of the phone. Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it is aligned and secure.
Reassemble the Phone
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard. Replace the back cover by aligning it with the edges and pressing it down until all clips are secured. Power on the device to confirm the repair was successful.
