Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on the right side of your Moto G 5G 2020 until the power off option appears. Tap 'Power off' to ensure the device is completely shut down before proceeding.
Remove the SIM Card Tray
Insert a SIM card eject tool or a paperclip into the small hole on the SIM card tray located on the left side of the phone. Gently press to eject the tray and remove it from the device.
Heat the Edges
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to carefully heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Move the heat source in a circular motion for about 2-3 minutes to evenly distribute the heat.
Lift the Screen
Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Work slowly around the edges to avoid breaking the screen further.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, use a spudger to carefully disconnect the battery connector to prevent any electrical activity during the repair process.
Remove the Old Screen
Locate and remove the screws holding the screen connector cover in place using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Remove the cover, then use the spudger to disconnect the screen connector. Carefully lift the old screen away from the phone.
Install the New Screen
Connect the new screen to the device by attaching the screen connector. Reinstall the connector cover and secure it with the screws. Ensure the new screen is properly aligned with the frame before pressing it into place.
Secure the Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or glue around the edges of the frame. Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it is secure and flush with the device. Allow the adhesive to set according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Reconnect the Battery and Test
Reconnect the battery connector using the spudger. Power on the device to test the new screen for functionality. Check for touch responsiveness and display clarity.
Reassemble the Device
Reinsert the SIM card tray into its slot. Ensure all components are securely in place. Clean the new screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints or smudges.
