Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Hold the power button and select 'Power off' from the options to shut down your Moto G Power 2020 completely. This ensures safety and prevents damage to internal components during the repair.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Move the heat source in circular motions around the perimeter of the screen for about 2-3 minutes, being careful not to overheat any specific area.
Separate the Screen from the Frame
Apply a suction cup to the lower part of the screen. Gently pull up to create a gap and insert a plastic opening tool into the gap. Carefully work your way around the edges to separate the screen from the frame. Use a spudger if necessary to assist in loosening the adhesive.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the battery connector shield. Carefully remove the shield and use a spudger to disconnect the battery. This step is crucial to avoid any electrical damage.
Disconnect the Screen Connector
Locate the screen connector and use a spudger to disconnect it from the motherboard. This will allow you to completely remove the old screen from the device.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the frame. Reconnect the screen connector to the motherboard, ensuring it is firmly attached. Use adhesive strips or double-sided tape to secure the new screen in place. Ensure no cables are pinched or misaligned.
Reconnect the Battery
Reattach the battery connector to the motherboard using the spudger. Replace the battery connector shield and secure it with the screws removed earlier. Double-check that all connections are secure.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and test the new screen to ensure it is functioning correctly. Check for touch responsiveness and display quality. If everything works, proceed to the final step.
Secure the Screen
Press down gently around the edges of the new screen to ensure the adhesive is securely bonded. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints or dust.
