Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button to turn off the Moto G4 Play completely. This is crucial to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
Remove the Back Cover and Battery
Use your fingernail or a plastic opening tool to gently pry off the back cover starting from the bottom corner. Once removed, use the spudger to lift the battery from the compartment.
Unscrew and Remove the Midframe
Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the midframe. Carefully lift the midframe away from the device using a spudger.
Detach the Display Connector
Locate the display connector on the motherboard. Use the spudger to gently disconnect the connector. Be careful not to damage the surrounding components.
Remove the Old Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to apply heat around the edges of the screen for 1-2 minutes to soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly, then insert a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Carefully work your way around the device until the screen is fully detached.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame and press it into position. Ensure the display connector is properly aligned and reattach it to the motherboard.
Reassemble the Device
Reattach the midframe by aligning it with the screw holes and securing it with the screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Replace the battery and snap the back cover into place.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device to ensure the new screen is functioning correctly. Check for touch responsiveness and display clarity.
