Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' to completely shut down your Motorola Moto G5S Plus. This step is crucial to avoid any electrical short circuits during the repair process.
Remove SIM Card Tray
Use the SIM card ejection tool to remove the SIM card tray. Insert the tool into the small hole next to the tray, and gently press until the tray pops out. Set the tray aside in a safe place.
Heat the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Move the heat source in circular motions around the edges for about 2-3 minutes.
Lift the Screen
Attach a suction handle to the lower part of the screen. Gently pull up on the handle while using a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Start from the bottom and work your way around the edges. Be patient and avoid using excessive force.
Disconnect the Screen
Once the screen is lifted, use a spudger to carefully disconnect the screen's ribbon cable from the motherboard. This is typically located near the top of the device. Handle the cable gently to avoid damage.
Install the New Screen
Take your replacement screen and connect its ribbon cable to the motherboard. Ensure the connection is secure. Align the screen with the frame and press down gently to adhere it to the device. If necessary, use double-sided adhesive tape or pre-cut adhesive to secure it properly.
Reassemble the Device
Carefully align and press the screen back into place. Ensure there are no gaps around the edges. Reinsert the SIM card tray into its slot.
Power On and Test the Device
Press and hold the power button to turn on the device. Test the new screen by tapping and swiping to ensure touch functionality is working properly. Ensure the display is clear and responsive.
Final Inspection
Inspect the device for any loose components and ensure the screen is firmly in place. If everything looks good, you've successfully completed the screen replacement.
