Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair

1

Prepare Your Workspace

5 min

Ensure you have a clean, static-free work surface and all the necessary tools and materials ready. Power off the Motorola Moto G6 Play completely.

2

Remove the Back Cover

10 min

Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently warm the edges of the back cover for about 1-2 minutes to soften the adhesive. Carefully use a suction cup to create a gap, then insert a plastic opening tool to pry off the back cover. Be patient and work around the edges to avoid damaging the cover.

3

Detach the Battery Connector

5 min

Once the back cover is removed, use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove any screws securing the midframe. Use a spudger to gently lift and disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.

4

Remove the Old Battery

8 min

Carefully use the spudger to lift and remove the old battery. If the battery is held by adhesive, gently pry it free, taking care not to puncture the battery. Use tweezers to remove any remaining adhesive.

5

Install the New Battery

5 min

Place the new battery into the battery compartment. Ensure it is aligned correctly. Use adhesive strips to secure the new battery in place.

6

Reconnect the Battery Connector

2 min

Carefully reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard using the spudger. Ensure it is seated properly to avoid any connectivity issues.

7

Reassemble the Phone

5 min

Reattach the midframe and secure it with the screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Align the back cover and press it firmly in place. If necessary, apply slight heat to soften the adhesive and ensure a secure fit.

8

Test the New Battery

5 min

Power on the Motorola Moto G6 Play and ensure it boots up properly. Check that the new battery is recognized and charging as expected.
