Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Hold down the power button until the 'Power Off' option appears. Tap it to turn off the device completely. This ensures your safety and prevents data loss during the repair.
Remove the Back Cover
Heat the edges of the back cover using a heat gun or hair dryer for about 1 minute to soften the adhesive. Carefully use a plastic opening tool to pry open and remove the back cover. Work slowly to avoid cracking the cover.
Disconnect the Battery
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the battery connector shield. Use a spudger to gently disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. This step is crucial to prevent any electrical short circuits during the repair.
Remove the Old Screen
Heat the front of the device around the edges to loosen the adhesive securing the screen. Apply the suction cup near the bottom of the screen and gently pull up while using the plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Carefully disconnect the display cable from the motherboard.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device and connect the display cable to the motherboard. Ensure the cable is securely attached. Remove any protective film from the screen adhesive, then carefully press the screen into place, starting from the top and working your way down.
Reassemble the Device
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard. Secure it with the previously removed screws. Reattach the back cover by aligning it with the device and pressing firmly along the edges to re-engage the adhesive.
Power On and Test the Device
Power on your Moto G6 Play by holding the power button. Test the new screen by ensuring touch functionality, display clarity, and responsiveness are all in order. Make sure all components are working as expected.
