Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Phone
Press and hold the power button on your Moto G6 until the power menu appears. Tap 'Power Off' to ensure the device is completely turned off before proceeding with the repair.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to gently heat the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Carefully insert a plastic opening tool into the seam between the back cover and the frame, and gently pry it off. Work your way around the edges until the cover is free. Use a suction cup if necessary to assist in lifting the cover.
Disconnect the Battery
Remove the screws securing the battery connector cover using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Carefully lift the cover with tweezers and disconnect the battery connector using a spudger. This step ensures that there is no power to the device while you work.
Remove the Old Screen
Gently heat the front of the phone around the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Use the suction cup to lift the screen slightly and insert the plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame. Carefully work your way around the screen, separating it from the frame. Be cautious not to damage the display cable.
Disconnect the Display Cable
Once the screen is separated, carefully lift it to access the display cable. Use the spudger to disconnect the display cable from the motherboard. Set the old screen aside.
Install the New Screen
Connect the new screen's display cable to the motherboard. Carefully align the new screen with the phone's frame. Once aligned, press down gently to ensure the adhesive holds the screen in place.
Secure the Back Cover
Reattach the battery connector and replace the connector cover, securing it with screws. Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the back cover. Align the cover with the frame and press down firmly to secure it.
Power On the Phone and Test
Press and hold the power button to turn on your Moto G6. Test the new screen to ensure touch functionality and display quality. If everything is working correctly, enjoy your repaired device!
