Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Begin by powering off your Moto G8 Play completely. Use a SIM card eject tool to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This is essential to prevent any damage to the internal components during the repair process.
Heat and Loosen Adhesive
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to apply heat evenly along the edges of the back cover to soften the adhesive. Be cautious not to overheat the device. This will make it easier to remove the back cover without damaging it.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a suction cup to gently lift a corner of the back cover. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges to release the adhesive. Carefully lift off the back cover and set it aside.
Disconnect the Battery
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the battery connector cover. Remove the cover and use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. This ensures your safety and prevents short circuits.
Remove the Old Screen
Gently heat the front edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup and a plastic opening tool to carefully lift and separate the screen from the frame. Disconnect the display connector using tweezers and remove the old screen.
Install the New Screen
Clean the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any residual adhesive. Align the new screen and connect the display connector. Secure the screen in place with adhesive strips or double-sided tape.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard and replace the connector cover. Secure it with screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Reattach the Back Cover
Align and press the back cover firmly onto the device to ensure it adheres properly. If necessary, apply gentle heat to help the adhesive bond.
